i currently have a ATi Radeon x800 256 mb, its an amazing card but do u think a X850 or a 6800 GT 256 mb would be worth the upgrade.

LlamaTronics- 08-08-2005
Both 256 MB cards? I don't know if you'll see much of a difference... but hey, if you can afford it.... UPGRADE wink.gif

or there is a new top end ATi card coming out soon but thats gonna be EXTREMELY expensive.

Mr. Grim- 08-08-2005
never heard of a new top of the line card comeing out from ATI. but if you got the money, why not.

Nvidia launched its new GeForce 7800 GTX GPU late last month, but manufacturing issues forced ATI to delay the release of its new Radeon line until later this year. ATI expects to ship its next-generation Radeon graphics chips, codenamed the R520, R530 and RV515, in the third quarter of this year according to a report from technology news site DigiTimes.

It's been rumored that the ATI R520 chip will feature 32-pixel pipelines. If true, that means a fully clocked R520 chip should roll over the 24-pipe GeForce 7800 GTX without a problem. However, we might not see many chips with all 32 pipes enabled until ATI and TSMC, its foundry, can improve yields. The R530 and RV515 are most likely mainstream versions with fewer pipes and lower clock speeds. "ATI also plans to introduce another flagship chip, the R580, in early 2006," according to the report.

I wouldn'twaste te money, you still have probably one of the top 5 cards out there, unless you want to upgrade and send you card my way!

johkalhaups- 08-08-2005
I agree with Identified. The X800 is probably the number 3 or number 4 graphics card out there right now. That card should be more than enough to handle any game that comes out in the next couple of years! Why waste the money on a card that you probably wont even notice a difference in?

LlamaTronics- 08-09-2005
Yea, probably a good choice.... Save the money for something else....
