So what does everyone think about Windows XP Service Pack 2??
I think its great... although they need to work on "error handling" ... lol
It installed, and runs great on my home computer, and my laptop... But it completely killed one computer at work... After installation, the computer re-booted to a black screen and a mouse cursor... That was it... It wouldn't do anything!! Anyway, I had to re-install XP, and now that computer still sits with Service Pack 1... Maybe if I get adventurus some day at work, I'll try installing it again, until then, oh well...
Yea... It was one of our computers that was toasted by Service Pack 2...
- SP2 Update - Installation Attempt #2
We made sure thier were no viruses on our computer, then we ran Spybot - Search & Destroy to clean up everything else.
Then we should be ready to install Service Pack 2... So we began installation, and walked away from the computer... I came back about 15 minute later, and it looked to be a little over 50% done, but we have a message box that just says "Access Denied".... so I clicked on OK, and it says Service Pack 2 installation failed, uninstalling update.
I guess this computer was just not meant to have SP2. Any ideas what is going on? What else do we need to do to make this computer accept SP2???
I have SP2 on both of my computers at home and my laptop, and I've never had any troubles with it.
Damars,
are you installing as an administrator? and is that the EXACT error? i've never had a problem with sp2 (all my problems are created by hardware i think) but if i end up with this problem and solve it i'll let you know.
Ive installed it on both the pc's i have at home, no problems with it yet!
SP2...*&%$**!!
We have had big trouble with it. Why does MS always have to modify little things that are so annoying, like slightly moving where Dev Mgr is on the My Comp Properties screen? Why do they have to disable PING and also call it "echo" instead. Ugh.
We have also had several PCs crash BC of SP2. And the la-*test*-('") is that it downloads but does not install, unless we run it from CD.
I could go on, but I do not have time.

I don't have Microsoft XP Service Pack 2. Maybe you should contact Microsoft for Help if you are having problems with Microsoft Xp Service Pack 2. I don't think that I will be getting it.
Chad,
I will be living in Canada before Blackhawk ever had LH anywhere near me...

ROFLMAO
I see i'm not the only one who thinks its a Database on crack. Your comment almost made me laugh as much as my brother's half awake mumbling about fixing his dogs helmet last wednesday....
More Service Pack 2..
Actually, this time, its a happy ending!
We just finished installing Service pack 2 and the .Net Framework on the rest of our computers, and everything went smoothly! I don't get it... Maybe that 1 other computer is just on crack or something... Maybe its a MAC stuck in a PC's Case.... lol Who knows.
Mac in a PC's case... Thats pretty funny!! No Wonder it didn't work with Microsoft! Oh wait.... Does Microsoft even work with Microsoft? Who know..... "Microsoft Works.... Yea right" lol
I got the Microsoft Service Pack 2 for my Window XP about 5 months ago after viruses and threats started popping up. I haven't noticed too many differences with this software installed, so I could live without it.
eversince i installed sp2 my LAN wasn't workin like it should so i wasn't able to connect to the internet for days.. so i really hate it and i found out that some computers need a fix file for it to work properly.. i had to download and install that fix file from a nearby internet cafe.. i wonder if anybody had that same experience?
