Here are the reasons why the I think the PS3 will be a littel shaky to start, and why Blu-Ray will not become the Next-Generation of Disc Formats.

1) First the Blu-Ray drives will be signicantly more expensive than an HD-DVD Drive, I'm talking the first Blu-Ray dirve is estimated to go for $1000. Put that in a PS3 and Sony cannont market a 1300$+ gaming machine, therefore they cut the price and lose money, hoping to make it back on software.

2) The Surface of the data on a Blu-Ray disc will .1 millimeters from the surface of the disc, therefore making the tinyest scratch in the disc make the disc not work, and it makes cleaning a nightmare. HD-DVD's and todays Cd's and DVD's the data itself is 8 milimeters from the surface. Making cleaning easy, and scratches not as big a deal.

3) Blu-Ray discs hold more data, but do we really need 60 gigabytes, that is larger than most peoples hard drive. Movies now fit fine on 9 gigabyte discs, and they can be enhanced, and expanded to fit on a 30 gigabyte HD-DVD.

4) HD-Discs will be cheaper, to manufancture than Blu-Ray discs.

If anyone has any input on what the hell Sony is Thinking, let me know. I think Sony is diggin a grave, but they aren't actually because a bunch of Japanese fanboys will buy the console anyways.

Has anyone ever heard of a game that took up more than 10 gigabytes of Hard Drive Space?

I'm not completely up to speed on the PS3, but is it confirmed that they're using this drive...or is it just a rumor circling? I don't think Sony would be that naive to put a product like that in their machine and try to sell it.

sony will re engineer the discs and the drive to make them both cheaper and safer. Sony knows what its doing...

Ya..... I guess.... But from what I've heard most of the console companies take a loss on the actual console sales, hoping to make it up on software, services, and accessories...

Besides that, It wouldn't suprise me if Sony did use that drive... Then they can have another final fantasy game, but this time with more than 12 hours of mindless videos that drag on and on and on, and completely tare you away from the game!

wuuuut ff is on xbox??? awwwww mannn that ruines the entire ff series now the controls are gonna be different and all that crap!! OK wel about the blu ray I dont think they will lose too much money I think they will sell enough ps3's that theyll get all profit back (including ps3 accessories if there are any and if ppl might buy them, say Tshirts game holders etc.) I dont know about the scratch think but if you dont take care of your disks then I guess you will have a problem. Thats all I have to say right now but Ill post more l8r.
